Visit Seagrove, NC, a thriving arts district, and a jewel in NC’s artistic community. Within 15 miles of the town of Seagrove are several art destinations including the Seagrove area potteries, the NC Pottery Center,  the sculpture collection at the NC Zoo, Carolina Bronze Sculpture Garden and Foundry, the outdoor sculpture exhibit in downtown Asheboro, the Randolph Arts Guild, and STARworks with Seagrove right in the middle. The town of Seagrove plans to partner with these organizations to create an arts corridor along I-73 in Randolph and Montgomery counties that will bring in visitors from all over the country which will in turn help to revitalize the economy of this small town.

The first stage was opening a new arts venue within the town’s city limits. This venue was a sculpture park on Carolina Bronze Sculpture’s property. The Carolina Bronze Sculpture Garden is a natural and landscaped area overlooking a beautiful 1.25 acre pond. A .25 mile walking trail will loop around the pond with benches and a picnic area situated along the trail. With the help of horticulturalists from the NC Zoo, Carolina Bronze has chosen plants and trees that are native to the NC landscape. It is open to the public and provides the town of Seagrove a safe, contemplative place for walking and exercise as well as a place to educate and inspire the community and visitors from around the country about large scale public sculpture.

As an extension of this park, we are planning to install several sculptures in the downtown area of Seagrove. The first sculpture was installed in November of 2015 at the main intersection in downtown Seagrove. Another is already in the planning stages.

All the local art groups  are collaborating to promote the arts within Randolph and Montgomery counties with Seagrove as the center of it all. “In each community the arts have the power to create new avenues for economic health and physical vibrancy, and for people to feel a sense of pride in their locality.”, (NEA Chairman Jane Chu) It is our hope that this project will be the first step to reinvigorate the Town of Seagrove while simultaneously empowering the steadily growing art communities of Randolph and Montgomery counties with the ability to educate, create, and preserve the pride of the fine arts in North Carolina.
