How long does a foundry tour last?
During the tour, your guide will explain how a 2’ model is scanned and enlarged and how the scan is turned into a finished bronze using the lost wax process. Examples of both finished and unfinished sculpture along with examples of the many stages of the process are shown. During the tour, you will observe our artisans at work on all stages of the bronze casting process. The tours usually last around an hour. Call ahead to see if we will be pouring bronze that day.
Sculptors are always welcome during our normal business hours for a free tour and to obtain a quote.
Tours are free, but donations are accepted. Children must be 8 years of age or older. Closed toe shoes are required in the shop area.
How long does the Sculpture Garden tour last?
The Garden tours are self directed. You can visit as long as you like. There is a brochure about the sculpture that you can pick up in the gallery or download here. We also have a free audio tour of both the sculptures and the plants in the garden. Download the Uniguide Audio Tours app on your phone and search for Carolina Bronze to get detailed info.
Are you open on weekends?
Our hours are M-F, 8:30-4:30. At this time we are not open on weekends except by appointment.
Are sculptures available for purchase?
We have many different bronzes available for purchase as well as other types of sculpture in the gallery. Most of the sculpture in the Garden and on our website is for sale as well. If you have something particular in mind, we would be happy to cast or fabricate it for you.
Are you handicapped accessible?
The gallery and foundry tours are handicapped accessible. We have a wheel chair available for those that need it. The sculpture garden path is gravel with some gradual slopes so would be difficult for some to walk on. We do have a golf cart available if you call ahead.
Can we see a bronze pour?
We pour bronze approximately twice a month. If you really want to see a pour, it is best to call ahead a few days in advance to find out our schedule.
Do you rent the Sculpture Garden for events?
At this time we are not renting the garden area. We anticipate that it will be available soon.
