Bio
Mary is an artist with a focus on natural subjects such as orchids and butterflies, and joyful expressions such as music. Her influences come from her Welch roots and from being in museums and gardens in Europe. She includes science themes in her art and sculpture. Her BFA degree is from the University of Miami and after teaching Art and Design classes for over eight years, she now installs large outdoor sculptures for Public Art projects. Her work is in two state parks, government buildings, and at the US Botanic Garden in Washington, DC to honor the Centennial anniversary of the National Parks. She is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists and local art groups. Recently she showed several botanical illustrations of native plants of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park in the Centennial show at the Visitor Center in Townsend, TN.
While this work is not at the sculpture garden, it is for sale through Carolina Bronze Sculpture. If you are interested in purchasing one of the scuptures, contact Melissa Walker at [email protected].
